Fence Erector Apprenticeship Program
Application Admission
The
Ironworkers Local 63 Fence Erector Apprenticeship Program will be accepting applications for admission to the Fence Erector
Apprenticeship Program.
Applications
will be taken four (4) times in the 2007 year on the first Thursday of February, May, August, and November: February 1, 2007;
May 3, 2007; August 2, 2007; November 1, 2007.
The
office will be open for three (3) hours from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on the above days accepting applications. The office is located at 2523 Lexington St., Broadview, IL 60155
Requirements
on the day of application:
- You must apply in person
- A $25.00 non-refundable application fee which must be paid by money order
or cashier’s check. No Cash, credit cards, or personal checks will be accepted.
- Your birth certificate-you must be 18 years or older.
- Proof of 8 credit hours toward a high school diploma or higher
- You must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
- You must provide a physical from a doctor stating that you are capable of
performing manual labor
If
you do not have any of the above requirements, please don’t not bother showing up.
Applicants
must pass a drug test. They must also have reliable transportation to the jobsites
and to school. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of indenture. Apprentice Fence Erectors for Local 63 are required to be at work everyday, on time
whenever work is available to them within the jurisdiction of Local 63.
On
the day the applicant presents themselves, they will be given an information sheet to fill out. They will also be given a list of Contractors. It is the applicant’s
responsibility to contact these Contractors to solicit employment. If a Contractor
agrees to employ an applicant, the Contractor must inform the Apprentice Office in writing in a sealed envelope.
The
fence Erector Apprenticeship Program is a 3 year program requiring 4800 hours of on-the-job training; in addition to two nights
(without pay) of classroom training per week; attendance at school is mandatory.
A
new apprentice receives 65% of Journeyman rate and receives a 5% raise every six months if all class and work-related training
has been completed for that period. After completing a 60-day probationary period,
the apprentice pays a $100 initiation fee required to become an apprentice member of Iron Workers Local 63.
There
are absolutely no exceptions to any of the above requirements.

Program for Local 63 and the Joint Apprenticeship Committee admits persons of any race, color, national and ethnic origin,
